Subukia Shrine

Image
I had never been to Subukia shrine before. It was in the month of October that I made my first visit to the Holy Village of Mary as a pilgrim. I was in the company of my fiancé and my two lovely sisters .Our plan was to go spend the night at the grotto with our Mother Mary singing , praising and praying to our Lord and King for different intentions but mainly to seek inner peace/healing.  We left Nairobi at around 1200hrs for Nakuru town and later connected from Nakuru town to  Subukia. The shrine is located in Nakuru County along Nyeri- Nyahururu road. One can access the shrine either via Nakuru town or Nyahururu town through Gilgil town. The shrine is about 5 km from the tarmac road. It is strategically located on top of a hill and  surrounded  by a forest. From Subukia town, one can have a glimpse of the Shrine with the mega Church under construction as the landmark. It looks so close, yet so far away. To access the shrine, one can use ...

Smallest Catholic Church In Kenya-Mai Mahiu

Image
On our way to Mt.Longonot for a hike we pass-by this small church on the slopes of RiftValley it is located on Mai Mahiu –Naivasha road which connects Nairobi and Nakuru counties. We learn it’s the smallest church in East Africa. This church is used by people of all faith mainly travellers who come to pray and pay homage to the prisoners who built the magnificent road on the slopes. There are three steps to the church which symbolises The Holy Trinity; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit according to the catholic faith and teaching. On the wall behind the altar, there is a wall painting of baby Jesus and his mother Mary and Saint Joseph his father surrounded by angels “Nativity of Jesus” , it is believed that the painting was done in 1943 by the POW. This picture symbolises the victory that has been achieved by religion across the world .in front the altar there is a grotto of mother Mary hence you can always stop by and say the Rosary to the blessed virgin. On the...

Difference between hell and heaven

"Contrary to popular belief the tables of Hell are laden with the most exquisite dishes of food. Whatever you could possibly desire: soups, salads, stews, sauces, curries if you want, fruits, succulent meats (grilled to order), pastries, ice cream. The single unusual factor being that one must eat with a fork three feet long. Holding it close to the tines you could manage to eat, but when you do so, a demon immediately slaps you (or pokes you with his fork), and says, "Hold it at the other end!" So getting the food on the fork up to your mouth is quite impossible, alas, though an abundance of delicious food is readily available.   "In heaven the situation is exactly the same: same long tables covered with tasty dishes, same long forks. The only difference in heaven is that people feed the person sitting across the table from them."   The lesson of this story is this: if we could become less concerned with our own happiness and more concerned with the happine...

Lesson from a stage four cancer patient

Image
I have a brand new car parked outside that can’t do anything for me, I have all kinds of designers clothes, shoes and bags that can’t do anything for me, I have money in my account that can’t do anything for me, I have a big well-furnished house that can’t do anything for me.  Look, I’m lying here in a twin size hospital bed; I can take a plane any day of the week if I like but that can’t do anything for me ... So do not let anyone make u feel bad for the things you don’t have - but the things u have, be happy with those; if you have a roof over your head who cares what kind of furniture is in it... the most important thing in life is LOVE. Lastly, make sure you enjoy the ones you love”.

Gods timing is the BEST

Image
From the story of Israelites we learn that God choose Moses to lead them to the Promised Land from Egypt where they were slaves. In their journey they were faced with so many difficulties, for 40 years they were in the wilderness with nothing to eat or drink. They cried to God as they felt he had abandoned them, they rebelled against their leaders as they could not understand why God had let them leave Egypt only for them to suffer. What they didn’t know is that Gods script for their lives was not yet over.  Many are the time we behave like Israelites we do good charity we offer prayer for ourselves and others but yet we feel God is not doing us justice. We suffer from brokenness, pain & sorrow, sadness and at time we are confused. In all these sufferings do we really trust God even when we cannot see or feel anything? What we should never forget is that the end will be Gods call and God script is positive, it’s not broken and it’s blessed. We read from Le...

THINGS WE SHOULD NEVER DO TO OUR PARENTS

Image
1. Never take your parents to court regardless of the value of the property involved. If God wanted you to have that property, you would have been born with it. 2. Never repossess what you once gave a parent.  3. Never interrogate parents regarding WHAT THEY DID with the last money you gave them. You can find out wisely.  But once you realize it may raise issues, leave it at that. 4. Never lecture parents regarding their apparent weaknesses. You have not outlived them. And you haven't lived long enough.  5. A parent may take you to court, repossess what he gave you, interrogate you and even lecture you. 6. WISE PEOPLE CAN STAND A PARENT'S SPIT ON THEIR FACES. THEY KNOW IT'S A BLESSING IN  DISGUISE.  7. You will never be rich enough to do a parent any favour. All you do for them is a privilege of service. They birthed you but you can never birth them. You simply cannot pay them in kind!!! 8. IF YOU CAN BUY LIFE, THEN YOU CAN LEC...
